PRINCE PLAUDIT: ApHC HALL OF FAME. National Champion Get of sire 1976. Bronze Production Plaque 1978. ApHC article: Prince Plaudit was born on May 30, 1963, in Alamosa, Colorado at Hank Wiescamp's ranch. As a two-year-old, the loud-colored, full-hipped colt caught the eye of Carl Miles, who was looking for a replacement stallion for the aging Joker B. Before using him as a sire, Miles' put Prince Plaudit in training with Harry Reed. The stallion went on to win grand champion at the Denver National Show, the West Texas Clubs Show, Fort Worth, and San Antonio. Miles found that crossing Price Plaudit with Old Fred and Peter McCue lines resulted in well-muscled horses that excelled in halter and performance classes. His offspring won over 40 National and World titles. In 1974, Miles' ranch decided it had come time to hold a dispersal sale. Prince Plaudit sold in record time for $260,000 (today worth almost $1.6 million). Prince Plaudit has played a strong part in developing the 'ideal Appaloosa' and has been listed by the 'Horseman' publication as one of the top ten sires alongside quarter horses such as King P-234, Poco Bueno, Doc Bar, and other foundational sires. Prince Plaudit passed away peacefully in 1988 and was inducted into the ApHC Hall of Fame that same year.
