This is a very special horse…..He gave his whole life, working in the Amish fields only to be tossed
away when he could no longer do his job. He has been worked to the bone and it shows with the
harness imprints in his body.

Standing at 17 hands; Beau is approximately a 16 year old Belgian gelding that was rescued from the
Kill Pens of a Pennsylvania auction on Monday January 10, 2005. I purchased him four days later and
another week after that, he came to his new home. Beau arrived on a very cold, windy afternoon.
Candice led him into my barn to a warm dry stall where he stuck his head into a fresh pile of hay and
that is where his face has been ever since! J Beau arrived very thin, with body lice and a tumor in his
right eye. He is slowly gaining weight back and his dirty matted hair is shedding out and revealing a soft
healthy coat underneath. His shaved mane and forelock are beginning to grow back as well……making
his huge ears, not look so huge!  His big eyes show signs of hope and I think he is beginning to realize
that he is finally safe.

As soon as spring comes and Beau has gained enough weight back, he will be making the trip to
Cornell to have his tumor removed and his horrible teeth taken care of. Then he will really be on his
road to recovery.

Until then, Beau is happy in his new home, learning all sorts of “horsey” things, eating a ton, learning
what treats are, eating a ton, making new friends, did I mention eating a ton! His new buddies, DJ and
Benni are showing him the ropes…and how to be a spoiled rotten horse!
